Check out The Avant Garde Diaries’ interview with the queen of bounce Katey Red. For those who don’t know about bounce, it’s a form of music originated in New Orleans that would make anyone with a pulse want to dance for dear life. The uptempo beats and repetitive lyrics typically in bounce music are hypnotic and addictive.
According to the Avant Garde Diaries, Katey Red is a transgender bounce artist who has been involved with the genre for over a decade. In 2010 Red told Vanity Fair about her sexuality and music.
“At first, I was a bit scared,” Red said. “I know a lot of the boys listening didn’t like homosexuals. But I got over my fright. And they liked my music so much, they was like, Fuck it.”
